Patient Access Specialist PT

Position Overview We are searching for the next Patient Access Specialist champion. This role is responsible for performing admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at the hospital. The representative will work within the policies and processes of the organization while meeting regulatory compliance requirements. Job Responsibilities Assign accurate MRNs, complete medical necessity/compliance checks, provide patient instructions, and collect insurance information. Receive and process physician orders and utilize an overlay tool while delivering excellent customer service measured by Press Ganey. Operate the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter‑office calls. Maintain excellent customer service with compassion and adhere to policies. Meet point‑of‑service goals as assigned. Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts and provide statistical data to leadership. Pre‑register patient accounts prior to visits, including collecting demographic, insurance, and financial liabilities. Explain consent for treatment forms, obtain necessary signatures, and distribute patient education documents. Review eligibility responses in the insurance verification system and enter benefit data to support POS collections and billing. Screen medical necessity using ABN software and distribute required notices and pamphlets. Minimum Experience & Qualifications 1+ years of customer service experience. High school diploma or GED required. CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire (company paid). Openness to innovation, including AI, to improve processes and patient/client experiences. Compensation & Benefits Hourly pay range $17.00 – $18.15 based on experience. The role includes bonus incentives, paid certifications, tuition reimbursement, and a comprehensive benefits package.
