Lead Software Engineer - Financial Markets

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, along with 5+ years of hands-on experience coding in Java or Python, including production services and performance-sensitive applications.
• We look for a background in financial markets, especially Rates products, risk, PnL, market data, and the trade lifecycle.
• We need practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability, with a record of leading complex technical initiatives.
• We expect a strong grasp of real-time and distributed system concepts such as concurrency, messaging or streaming patterns, caching, and failure modes.
• We value experience delivering software in a large corporate environment with strong engineering standards, including testing, code quality, security, and SDLC practices.
• We seek familiarity with CI/CD, application resiliency, secure engineering, production monitoring, and incident response.
• We want proven ability to lead technical design discussions, mentor engineers, and work effectively with business stakeholders.
• We look for strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn quickly while delivering high-quality outcomes under pressure.
• Preferred experience includes exposure to Deephaven or similar real-time analytics and UI platforms, along with related runtime and operational considerations.
• Preferred experience also includes DevOps practices for low-latency services, UI programming, mixed Python and Java environments, and event-driven high-performance data pipelines.

• We lead the design and development of Python-based live risk and PnL applications, driving ongoing improvements across product teams.
• We partner directly with Rates traders and stakeholders to turn business needs into dependable, low-latency technical solutions.
• We make decisions on software strategy, architecture, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with an emphasis on production excellence.
• We design and deliver secure, high-quality production code with strong attention to correctness, performance, and operational stability.
• We own architecture and design documentation for complex real-time systems, ensuring latency, throughput, and availability goals are achieved.
• We build and enhance monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks, and we contribute to production support and incident management when needed.
• We collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to improve CI/CD, deployment automation, and environment reliability.
• We mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and best-practice standards.
• We identify systemic issues such as technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and data quality gaps, and drive remediation aligned with long-term platform objectives.
