Adjunct Professor of Success in College and Life (High School Concurrent) General Description: An adjunct faculty member at Oklahoma City Community College has the primary responsibility of instruction. Secondary responsibilities include supporting the integrity of curricula, encouraging student success, and promoting the mission of the division to which the adjunct faculty member belongs as well as the College as a whole. This position will teach concurrent students on area high school campuses. Qualifications Minimum of a Master’s degree. In-person teaching experience in secondary and/or higher education. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Supportive teaching philosophy Excellent communication skills Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population Ability to use electronic databases for scholarly research Ability to travel to area high schools to teach concurrent high school students Ability to access and autonomously implement technology relevant to the course, including, but not limited to Zoom and the learning management system (Moodle) Job Duties / Responsibilities A faculty member is primarily responsible for supporting student learning by providing quality instruction in courses that the faculty member and the dean/chair/coordinator agree will be taught. Quality instruction includes clear course objectives, prepared and relevant class activities, effective and understandable presentations of learning materials, fair and understandable grading practices (credit classes only), timely responses to students, and a positive atmosphere in the classroom. Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes for the program and/or department. Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from program, division, and College administrators and students, generally within 24 hours Monday‑Friday, 48 hours on weekends. Maintain accurate and timely attendance and grade book records. Attend department, division, and College meetings as required. Acquire new knowledge and skills as appropriate for the academic discipline. Satisfy objectives for mutually agreed upon special assignments. Travel to area high school campuses to teach concurrent students. Support the College’s vision, mission, goals, and priorities. Safety and Policy & Procedures Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures. Contribute to a safe educational & working environment. Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others. Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices. Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur. Physical Demands and Working Conditions General physical requirements: Sedentary work with occasional exertion up to 10 pounds. Frequent classroom movement, communication, computer use, and repetitive hand and wrist motions. Requires good visual acuity to judge, observe and assess accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work. Work environment: Indoor, classroom or office setting. Required Training Online instructor training. LMS instructor training. Work Hours This position requires in-person teaching during a high school workday (7:30 am – 4:00 pm) for the duration of an academic semester.
