Position: Staff Accountant Location: Columbus, OH Job Id: 308 # of Openings: 1 Staff Accountant Full-Time | Exempt Department: Accounting Reports To: Accounting Manager Join a Team That Helps Shape Central Ohio Steiner is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of our commercial real estate portfolio and active development projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys variety, collaboration, and working in a dynamic real estate environment. In this role, you’ll gain exposure to both stabilized property accounting and the financial side of commercial development projects — from construction cost tracking to financial reporting and budgeting. You’ll work closely with accounting, property management, and development teams to help ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations. What You’ll Do Prepare monthly financial statements for commercial real estate assets Record journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Assist with month‑end close processes and variance analysis Track operating expenses, CAM recoveries, and tenant receivables Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities Monitor development project costs, construction invoices, and capital expenditures Assist with construction draw requests and lender reporting Maintain project budgets and support cost‑to‑complete analyses Collaborate with property managers and development teams to resolve financial discrepancies Support audits, tax preparation, and investor reporting Assist with process improvements and special financial projects What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 1–3+ years of accounting experience Strong Excel and general computer skills Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment Strong analytical and communication abilities Preferred Qualifications Experience with real estate accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, or Nexus Familiarity with job cost accounting and development project tracking Understanding of construction draws and lender reporting processes At Steiner, we offer more than just a job — we offer the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team in an organization that values professionalism, relationships, and long‑term growth.
