Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step-Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a step-down or PCU setting License: Current RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS required Must-Have: Experience with cardiac post-operative patients Experience with management of dysrhythmias Experience with telemetry monitoring Description: The position requires an experienced nurse for a step-down unit specializing in cardiac care. Common surgical procedures include coronary artery bypass graft, mitral valve repair or replacement, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Nurses will care for adult patients undergoing or recovering from cardiothoracic surgery. Patient-to-nurse ratios vary from 1:3 to 1:5 based on patient acuity. The role will involve telemetry monitoring and the management of IV drips. Candidates should be comfortable with central line care, chest tubes, and managing vasoactive drips. Floating within the service line may be required to meet facility needs. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. All required skills should be demonstrated during the screening process.
