Must-Have: Strong experience with cardiac post-operative patients, including post CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR, temporary pacemakers, epicardial wires, and chest tubes.
Experience in titrating IV drips is required.
Ability to manage cardiac drips without titration is essential.
Description:
The Registered Nurse will provide care to adult patients requiring or who have already received cardiothoracic surgery.
Common surgical procedures for patients include coronary artery bypass graft, mitral valve repair or replacement, aortic valve repair or replacement, aortic aneurysm repair, Maze procedure, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, heart transplant, and left ventricular assist device implant.
Patient to nurse ratios typically vary from 1:3 to 1:5, depending on the acuity level of the patients.
Responsibilities include telemetry, IV drips titrating down, managing chest tubes, and caring for temporary pacemakers.
The role may involve floating between two units staffed with the same personnel, which requires familiarity with a diverse patient population.
Interdisciplinary support is available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy.
This role does not require on-call duties, but evening and weekend shifts will be necessary.
The facility provides care for patients with heart surgery, transplant, bypass, valve replacement, and cardiac overflow conditions.
Consistent professional development and adherence to protocols and safety measures are expected.
