About the Position

Job Opportunity – Emergency Department Holding Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: October 19, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week. 4:1 patient ratio across all shifts. Patient population includes pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Daily census of 32 beds.

Highlights:

• ER Holding unit combining emergency, medical-surgical, and telemetry skills
• Epic charting system utilized
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and radiology
• First-time travelers welcomed with appropriate experience
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required with ER and ER Holding background
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate

Requirements:

• Current RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Emergency Department experience required
• ER Holding experience required; Medical-Surgical and Telemetry experience preferred
• Preferred experience with Trauma Level I and II settings
• Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal leadership capacity)
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)

Key Clinical Skills:

• Cardiac telemetry and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Arterial line and central line management
• Blood product administration and IV insulin protocols
• Management of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Ventilated patient care and non-invasive airway management
• BiPAP/CPAP management and High Flow Nasal Cannula
• IV placement and PICC line management
• Care of CVA, seizure disorders, and traumatic brain injury patients
• Wound care and surgical drain management
