Position Details Posting Number: PG196102TM Position Number: 48LS002 Position Type: Temporary (11 months) Location: Chapel Hill, NC Job Title: UTS - Temporary Grants Manager at UNC Chapel Hill Responsibilities The Grants Manager will independently lead the planning, coordination, and financial administration of a growing portfolio of contracts and grants across the institution’s departments. The position will support the full life cycle of proposals and awarded sponsored research program projects, ensuring compliance with applicable processes and guidelines. Lead submissions, monitor expenditures, analyze burn rates on sponsored projects, communicate financial data, and provide expert consultation. Liaise with the Office of Sponsored Research to manage project budgets, comply with agency guidelines, and document cost‑share. Analyze financial data through university applications for day‑to‑day program project monitoring, perform PAATs and funding swaps as needed, prepare funding agency progress reports with PIs and relevant parties, and perform project close‑out activities and submit and track closing entries needed through university applications. Requirements & Preferences Minimum of 1 year of direct experience in research administration, grant management, or complex financial analysis. Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze budgets, calculate burn rates, and forecast expenditures. Excellent communication skills, with proven ability to translate complex financial data into actionable advice for researchers and academic personnel. High attention to detail and proficiency using enterprise‑level financial software and applications. Experience with contracts and grants within higher education (preferred). Work schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM, hybrid. Valid NC Driver’s License: not required; Commercial Driver’s License: not required. Compensation Hourly rate: $30.00 per hour.
