Surgical Technologist

The Mass General Outpatient Surgical Center in Waltham is seeking a Surgical Tech to join the team. Competitive pay, great benefits, and free parking! Supportive leadership and collaborative team. Surgical Tech II scrubs for surgical procedures and performs other duties related to the preparation and maintenance of the operating room environment and assists with the peri-operative care of patients. Monday through Friday days shift.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in various surgical procedures
• Preparing the operating room for surgical procedures
• Setting up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment required for the surgery
• Transporting patients to the operating room, helping with positioning on the surgical table, and ensuring their safety and comfort during the procedure
• Passing instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgical team during procedures
• Following proper sterilization techniques to ensure the cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and supplies
• Maintaining accurate and complete documentation of surgical procedures, including counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments used
• Collaborating effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team
• Assisting in preparing the surgical site by applying sterile drapes and solutions
• Securing and managing surgical drains and catheters as directed by the surgeon

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Licenses and Credentials: Certified Surgical Technologist [CST] - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) - preferred

Work Experience: Experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting 2-3 years - required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room
• Ability to multitask, can work in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Advanced knowledge of sterile processing procedures and policies
• Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items is required
