The system enrolls over 500,000 students annually. It is the 3rd largest in the nation based on the number of colleges. It also provides data to the North Carolina Learning Object Repository by collecting, contributing, and sharing digital learning resources for use in traditional or distance learning environments. Description of Work The State Director guides the continued evolution of NCEdge Customized Training by identifying opportunities for innovation, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and positioning the program to respond to emerging workforce and industry trends across North Carolina. Responsibilities Lead efforts to support business growth, workforce responsiveness, talent development, and economic competitiveness through industry‑driven training solutions. Advance statewide employer engagement strategies and support operational excellence. Strengthen cross‑sector partnerships and ensure NCEdge Customized Training remains responsive to evolving workforce and industry needs. Serve as a senior leader within the Economic Development Division, collaborating across programs, System Office teams, community colleges, and external partners to advance integrated workforce and economic development strategies. Qualifications Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in workforce development, economic development, employer engagement, education, business services, or program leadership. Experience managing staff, partnerships, operations, or statewide initiatives. Experience working collaboratively with external stakeholders and industry partners. Experience utilizing data systems, CRM platforms, preferably Salesforce or reporting tools to support operations and performance management. Strong strategic leadership and organizational management skills. Strong relationship‑building and partnership development abilities. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Strong analytical, operational, and problem‑solving skills. Customer‑focused mindset with strong responsiveness and professionalism. Ability to interpret data and translate findings into operational strategy. Experience working within North Carolina’s workforce or economic development ecosystem. Knowledge of customized training, workforce funding, and employer engagement strategies. Education Bachelor’s degree in business, workforce development, education, public administration, economic development, or a related field is required.
