Take the next step in your education career by supporting elementary students in a collaborative setting as a Special Education Teacher for 5th grade. This full-time contract opportunity begins October 1, 2026, and runs through June 2027, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact throughout the academic year.
You’ll work closely with general education colleagues in a co-teaching model, serving a small caseload of six (potentially seven) students. Your commitment will help foster growth, progress, and confidence for students requiring additional support. With a weekly schedule of 35–37 hours, there’s ample opportunity to build relationships, demonstrate your expertise, and make a real difference in young learners’ lives.
Qualifications:
- Current Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) endorsement
- Experience in elementary special education settings, preferably co-teaching at the 5th-grade level
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, parents, and support staff
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Skill in developing and implementing IEPs tailored to individual student needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Co-teach 5th grade classes, ensuring accommodations and modifications are followed for all students on your caseload
- Provide individualized and small group instruction as needed
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate in IEP meetings and with multidisciplinary teams
- Foster an inclusive, positive classroom culture
- Communicate effectively with families and staff to support student success
