Project Analyst

LanceSoft is recruiting for a Project Controls Analyst to support PG&E projects focused on system hardening, undergrounding, and utility infrastructure improvements. This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory and operational standards through effective project controls, cost management, scheduling, and reporting. About the Role The Project Controls Analyst is responsible for managing project cost planning, schedule development, budget forecasting, financial reporting, and project documentation for utility infrastructure projects. Working closely with Project Managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders, this role supports the successful execution of complex projects by monitoring project performance, identifying risks, and ensuring accurate financial and schedule management throughout the project lifecycle. Location: Rocklin, California, United States (Onsite) Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and update project cost plans and monthly forecast budgets. Analyze project costs and schedules to evaluate project feasibility. Prepare detailed cost performance and variance analyses. Monitor project expenditures and recommend corrective actions when necessary. Respond to project budget inquiries, including General Rate Case (GRC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) cost requests. Process journal entries and coordinate goods receipts within financial systems. Project Scheduling & Controls Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6. Monitor project progress against approved schedules and budgets. Coordinate schedule updates with project teams, contractors, and vendors. Track project forecasts to ensure expenditures remain within approved budgets. Identify schedule risks, dependencies, and critical milestones. Support project planning activities to maintain schedule accuracy. Project Reporting & Performance Analysis Prepare monthly project cost and schedule performance reports. Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions. Assess project performance using established project management standards. Communicate project cost, schedule, and risk status to stakeholders. Deliver regular status updates to project teams and leadership. Support continuous monitoring of project objectives and deliverables. Project Documentation & Compliance Manage project documentation from project initiation through closeout. Maintain logs for scope changes, contingency releases, change orders, and journal entries. Ensure project documentation complies with organizational and regulatory requirements. Track project approvals, authorizations, and financial records. Assist with Advance Authorizations, Job Estimates, and Re-Authorizations. Support project closeout activities and documentation. Stakeholder Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Collaborate with Project Managers, design teams, planners, contractors, and stakeholders. Participate in project kickoff meetings, planning sessions, and site walkdowns. Coordinate with internal teams to resolve project issues and open items. Support implementation of process and business improvements. Assist with post-project reviews and lessons learned activities. Promote effective communication across all project participants. Requirements Required Qualifications Experience in project controls, project management support, cost analysis, or scheduling. Strong knowledge of project cost planning and budget forecasting. Experience developing and maintaining project schedules. Proficiency with Primavera P6 scheduling software. Strong analytical and financial reporting skills. Experience performing variance analysis and project performance reporting. Knowledge of project documentation and change management processes. Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting project deadlines. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Strong proficiency with project management and financial systems. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting utility, infrastructure, or energy projects. Familiarity with PG&E project management processes. Knowledge of General Rate Case (GRC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requirements. Experience with project authorization, job estimating, and financial reconciliation.
