Job Summary and Qualifications

• Performs routine and/or complex testing in specific areas of the lab according to department policies.
• Know policies, procedures and practices necessary to perform specimen processing duties
• Responds to requests for emergency service in a timely manner
• Organizes workload within the department to meet the needs of the institution within established timeframes.
• Answers all incoming phone calls and requests for information in a timely manner
• Reports any incomplete assignments/workload to incoming shift in order to ensure continuity of result reporting.
• Demonstrates the ability to differentiate results of various tests to determine the accuracy of test result and reports any unusual findings/trends to supervisor.
• Maintains clean workstation
• Demonstrates initial and annual competency in all areas including phlebotomy and processing and all computer related functions
• Performs and documents various quality control and equipment maintenance procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
• Adheres to hospital policy for reporting patient safety issues, including errors. Consistently "Puts Patient Safety First" when performing job duties or providing care

EDUCATION : PERFERRED-4 YEAR/BACHELOR'S DEGREE

CERTIFICATION: Required: Registry eligible, ASCP or equivalent. Successful completion of MT registry within 6 months of eligibility or hire. Registry/Licensure in a specialty area will be considered. Continuing education to maintain registry/licensure is required.
