Responsibilities/Job Description

Fairview is looking for a Laboratory Care Technician for the Acute Care Laboratory atM Health Fairview Southdale Hospitalin Edina, MN. This is a part-time position,64 hours per 2-week pay period and every other weekend rotation. This position is on night shift which is 10PM to 6:30AM or 11PM to 7:30AM.

Training for this position will take place over a five-week period and is scheduled full-time, Monday through Friday, during daytime hours.The first week begins with remote orientation on Monday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.On Tuesday and Wednesday of that same week, training shifts to on-site sessions running from 7:00am to 3:30pm.For theremainderof the first week and continuing through the following 4 weeks, training will be conducted on-site during early morning hours, either from 5:00am to 1:30pm or from 6:00am to 2:30pm.

M Health Fairview Southdale Acute Care Laboratory is fast-pacedand it is staffed 24hours a day, 7 days a week. Our laboratory provides quality testing in the areas of clinical hematology, chemistry, blood gas, coagulation, urinalysis, transfusion medicine, and blood collection and processing.

Working with diverse populations within a healthcare environment, the LCT plays a meaningful role in providing quality, proficient and professional services in keeping with Fairview Values as they interact with our patients,familiesand co-workers. The LCT performs laboratory specimen collection,as well as,provides for safe and secure specimen handling and point of care testing. Responsible for accurately entering orders and collection information into the Laboratory Information System and associated subsystems; monitoring computer logs for incomplete work; scheduling tests/procedures and providing results in LIS/HIS and over the phone, the LCT's attention to detail and accuracy are the foundation for our providing quality laboratory services. Working as an individual or team member, the LCT continuously works towards providing quality service improvement andoptimumsupport to the department and team members in achieving Fairview's goals.

Required

• At least 18 years of age

Education

• Completion of a formal phlebotomy education program OR-

• Completion of three months of full-time clinical phlebotomy and laboratory experience OR-

• Enrollment in final year of MLT or MLS program.

Experience

• Successful customer service background within a diverse cultural setting

Preferred

• Prior laboratory experience in a hospital or clinic setting in a similar capacity

Qualifications

$21.84- $30.83 Hourly
