The role involves providing direct patient care activities for all age groups. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. The nurse monitors and coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient comfort and care. The position requires maintaining professional accountability for the provision of patient care. Evaluation of the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers is essential. The nurse coordinates patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintaining patient rights and confidentiality of patient information is a critical aspect of this role. This role encompasses performing duties consistent with established guidelines of nursing practice and professional standards. Significant physical demands of the job require standing and walking most of the time on duty. The role may involve bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance. The nurse may be required to work differing schedules, shifts, and days of the week according to patient care requirements. There will be high-risk exposure to blood and body fluids. Physical demands include pushing, pulling, and gripping up to 50 lbs. The nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care for post-trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities.
