Key Responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Technician

• Process and maintain proper care of surgical instruments and equipment, scopes, and powered instruments
• Inspect, evaluate, clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments
• Maintain quality control and documentation records of the sterilization process
• Distribute designated supplies and equipment throughout the medical center
• Perform assembly, sterilization, wrapping, decontamination, and instrument inspection
• High-level disinfection and sterilization using steam and low temp (Vrpo) methods
• Utilize SPM Tracking system for sterilization management
• Routinely float between decontamination, assembly, and sterilization departments

Requirements of the Sterile Processing Technician

• Possess CRCST or CBSPD certification
• Experience with a wide variety of instruments for different service lines
• Experience with the SPM Tracking system is mandatory
