ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. The ICU unit provides care for critically ill patients, and candidates should possess a strong background in intensive care nursing.

Position Details

• Unit: Medical Surgical ICU
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Driver's license required at the time of submission

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 34
• Nurse-Patient Ratios: 1:1-2 in ICU; 1:4-5 in PCU; 1:5-6 in Medical Surgical
• Common Diagnoses: Adults and pediatric patients (ages >15), including neuro surgery patients, respiratory failure, ARDS, sepsis, stroke, and various surgical needs
• Titration of Drips: Required for vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics
• Support Staff: Nurse aides/patient care techs available with a ratio of 1:18
• Equipment: Advanced respiratory equipment and centralized telemetry monitoring

Scheduling

• Shifts run from 0630 to 1830 and 1830 to 0630
• Weekend and holiday requirements: Every other, with additional as needed
• Floating to all inpatient units may be required, excluding maternity and NICU

Additional Information

This is a fast-paced unit within a tertiary care environment, requiring strong critical thinking skills and a commitment to teamwork. Nurses should possess strong communication abilities and a willingness to collaborate with attending physicians and resident providers.

All candidates must pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% to continue in the position. Compliance with the fingernail policy is mandatory, as artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas.
