Job Summary:

The Billing Clerk performs tasks that help the company monitor revenues. This role prepares and

updates records to ensure the accurate and reliable handling of accounts and documents. Mathematical

ability and a high degree of organization are essential due to the great amount of financial information

the employee will process. The Billing Clerk utilizes technology to expedite their work, which requires a

degree of computer knowledge. The goal of this position is to contribute to the accurate preparation of

bills receivable and safeguard the company’s income.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Accurately transfer data from paper documents or e-mail to accounting software
• Consult manuals to calculate charges according to each customer’s agreed-upon rates
• Update manuals when rates or rules are amended
• Verify data input in the accounting system to ensure accuracy of final bill
• Communicate with dispatch team members to ensure correct services are billed
• Prepare and issue itemized customer invoices or account statements through mail, e-mail, etc.
• Update accounting records with new payments, balances, customer information etc.
• Answer telephones to provide information or direct calls as needed
• Make photocopies; mail, scan, and email documents
• Weigh parcels using metering equipment to determine accurate shipping costs
• File documents into appropriate employee files
• Perform other related clerical duties as assigned

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Adherence to laws and confidentiality guidelines
• Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel)
• Working knowledge of relevant software (e.g. Quickbooks) preferred

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED
• Proven experience as billing clerk or general accounting experience
• Further related education a plus

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
