Job Description
ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our Intermediate Critical Care Unit. The ideal candidate will possess recent ICU experience and be skilled in the following areas:

Required Skills and Certifications

Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience
IV Start
Telemetry and Cardiac Telemetry
Titration of Cardiac Drips
Use of rapid response teams
Feeding Tube and Management
Heparin Protocols
PCA management
Care of CVA patients
ACLS and BCLS certifications

Preferred Skills and Certifications

Experience in MS/Tele
Ability to titrate vasoactive drips
Care of ventilated patients
Wound Care/Wound Vac
NHISS certification

Job Details

Patient Ratios: 1:4
36 hours can be offered
Shift: 12 hours, Nights (18:45 - 07:15)
All missed shifts should be made up within the same week if possible; otherwise, time will be added to the end of the contract
Floating required as needed to Medical/Surgical units (1:6 ratio)
Weekend requirement: At least 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

Patient Diagnoses

The Intermediate Critical Care Unit specializes in patient care for conditions including, but not limited to:

Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
Sickle Cell Disease
Sepsis
Respiratory Distress
Pneumonia
Heart Failure
Stroke and stroke-like symptoms

Special Procedures and Equipment

The unit operates as a Rapid Response RN, utilizing specialized equipment such as:

Bipap
Cpap
Optiflow

Unit Systems

The unit is equipped with the following systems:

PYXSIS
EPIC

Scheduling and Orientation

Scheduling is self-managed and balanced with approval from a staffer. A comprehensive 36-hour orientation will be provided to ensure all staff are familiar with unit protocols and practices.

Attire

Scrubs must be navy or navy and white.

Additional Information

Candidates must successfully pass EKG testing prior to the start date for this specialty position. We welcome first-time travelers as well as local applicants with the required qualifications.
