ABOUT THE ROLE

Optum WellMed Florida is building the state’s premier value-based care platform, with more than 100 primary care locations serving Medicare Advantage and other patient populations through a full-risk model. Supported by TPG Capital and operating in a build-and-scale environment following a recent carve-out, the organization is positioned for accelerated growth.

The Director / Senior Director, Operations Finance Partner is the bridge between Finance and Operations. This leader ensures that strategic priorities, clinical initiatives, and operational investments are evaluated through a disciplined financial lens, and that field-level insight is reflected in enterprise planning.

Reporting to the SVP, Financial Planning & Analysis, with a dotted line to the Chief Operating Officer, this leader is embedded within the Operations leadership team as a trusted advisor across the clinical and operational footprint. Key partners include the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Actuary, Transformation Office, Finance Systems, DYAD leadership teams, and clinic medical and operations directors. The role calls for equal comfort in executive discussions, financial analysis, and clinic-level engagement, and requires significant travel across Florida clinics.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Strategic Finance Partner to Operations

•    Serve as the embedded finance leader within the Operations leadership team.

•    Partner closely with the COO, CMO, and operational leaders to evaluate priorities, investments, and performance improvement initiatives.

•    Bring financial discipline to operational decision-making while maintaining the agility required in a fast-moving healthcare environment.

•    Build trusted relationships across clinic, market, and executive leadership teams.

Performance Measurement and Business Insights

•    Establish and maintain a single source of truth for operational and financial performance.

•    Integrate data from finance systems, actuarial models, claims, and general ledger sources into actionable business insights.

•    Develop performance scorecards and reporting frameworks that align Finance and Operations around common metrics and goals.

•    Identify emerging risks, opportunities, and performance trends across the clinic network.

Pilot Programs and Value Creation

•    Partner with Operations leaders to identify, prioritize, and evaluate pilot initiatives.

•    Develop business cases and financial analyses that support investment decisions.

•    Establish measurement frameworks, success criteria, and scaling thresholds for new initiatives.

•    Ensure operational investments are supported by rigorous value creation analysis before broader implementation.

Planning, Budgeting, and Forecasting

•    Connect clinic and market-level operations to the enterprise planning process.

•    Support development of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning assumptions.

•    Ensure operational realities are accurately reflected in financial plans and forecasts.

•    Provide ongoing analysis of budget-to-actual performance and the key drivers of variance.

Operating Reviews and Governance

•    Lead the Monthly Operating Review process for the market.

•    Provide financial and operational insights that support executive decision-making.

•    Establish governance processes that promote accountability and informed resource allocation.

•    Create transparency between Finance and Operations, ensuring alignment and minimizing surprises.

Cross-Functional Leadership

•    Partner with the actuarial team to translate medical cost trends into operational action plans.

•    Collaborate with Finance Systems to strengthen enterprise reporting and data governance.

•    Work alongside HR and operational leaders to evaluate staffing models, labor investments, and centralization opportunities.

•    Support change management and adoption of financial tools, reporting, and performance management processes across the organization.

YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS

•    Lead development of a focused operational and clinical KPI framework, aligning Finance, Operations, Clinical Leadership, and Actuarial around a common set of performance measures.

•    Design and launch a disciplined Monthly Operating Review process that enables performance monitoring, decision-making, and accountability at the market level.

•    Partner with Operations leadership to evaluate and prioritize high-impact pilots across medical cost management, clinical pathways, referral optimization, hospitalist model improvements, and workforce and staffing design.

•    Support preparation for the organization’s first full budgeting cycle by validating operational assumptions and aligning investments with strategic priorities.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Required Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a quantitative discipline.

•    7+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, operations finance, or related analytical leadership roles.

•    Healthcare industry experience.

•    Strong understanding of value-based care, Medicare Advantage, managed care economics, or full-risk healthcare models.

•    Experience supporting multi-site healthcare, clinic, or physician practice operations.

•    Working knowledge of key value-based care metrics, including PMPM, MLR, HCC, RAF, Stars, and HEDIS.

•    Demonstrated ability to influence leaders through data-driven analysis and business partnership.

•    Strong financial modeling, analytical, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.

•    Comfort working with large, complex datasets in rapidly evolving environments.

•    Proven ability to succeed in highly entrepreneurial, build-from-scratch organizations.

•    Ability to travel across Florida clinics as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

•    Experience in value-based care, Medicare Advantage, or provider risk models.

•    Previous Finance Business Partner experience supporting Operations leadership.

•    Private equity, investment banking, or transaction advisory experience.

•    Experience in post-carve-out, integration, or TSA environments.

•    Exposure to revenue cycle management, risk adjustment, or payer economics.

•    MBA, CPA, CFA, or other relevant advanced credentials.
