About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year(s) License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Must have Epic experience Ability to handle either a 6 patient med-surg assignment or a 3 patient stepdown assignment Description: The unit serves both stepdown and medical-surgical patients based on needs. It has a diverse patient population with primarily medical diagnoses. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 3:1 for stepdown and 6:1 for floor patients. RNs will have orders written to titrate drips such as heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, and PCA medications. The unit has charge RNs and house supervisors available 24/7, with the goal to always run with a free charge RN. Nurse aids are present, with a ratio of 1:10. RNs are not expected to read their own telemetry strips as central monitoring is available. 12-hour shifts are provided, and while block scheduling is not guaranteed, efforts will be made to accommodate requests. Weekend and holiday requirements are expected to be fulfilled, working approximately half of all recognized holidays. There is no call or standby requirement for this position. RNs may be required to float to other units as needed. Dress code consists of a combination of royal blue and white scrubs.
