ADULT PROTECTIVE INVESTIGATOR

Title: Adult Protective Investigator • Position Number: 60070029 • Salary: $37,000.08 annually / $1,423.08 bi‑weekly Job Summary An Adult Protective Investigator investigates allegations of abuse, neglect, self‑neglect, and financial exploitation against vulnerable adults. The role requires rapid response, coordination of emergency services, and collaboration with state agencies, law enforcement, and community resources to protect the safety and independence of vulnerable adults. Key Responsibilities Conduct timely safety assessments and mental capacity evaluations within 24 hours of a report. Coordinate emergency services, medical evaluations, temporary placement, and court interventions when necessary. Investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation and develop prevention plans. Gather evidence through interviews, observations, and record analysis. Collaborate with state agencies, law enforcement, and prosecutors to ensure justice for vulnerable adults. Connect clients with agency and community resources and maintain supportive relationships. Build relationships with community organizations, advocacy groups, and medical personnel. Maintain accurate investigative reports and adhere to relevant laws, rules, and policies. Qualifications High school diploma or GED plus four years of law‑enforcement experience or active military service; OR Associate degree (60+ credits) and two years of professional experience relevant to adult protection, or two years of law‑enforcement or military experience. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (additional qualification). Valid driver’s license and operational private vehicle for work duties; proof of registration and insurance within 30 days of hire. Ability to attend a 6‑8 week mandatory training course. Professional examples for the two‑year experience requirement: Guardian Ad Litem, Family Support Worker, Group Home Worker, Teacher’s Assistant, Therapeutic Assistant, Family Intervention Specialist, Home Health Aide, LPN/RN, Nursing Facility Assistant, EMT, and other high‑stress professional roles requiring critical decision‑making. Special Notes Language proficiency may be evaluated as needed. May require a pre‑interview assessment or work sample for interview eligibility. Working Conditions Night, weekend, and holiday work; essential position. Must work during emergencies, natural disasters, and atypical hours. Potential exposure to hazardous field conditions. Background Screening A Florida Department of Children and Families policy requires a State and National criminal history check, including FDLE and FBI fingerprinting, as a condition of employment. Employment may be terminated if background results are not satisfactory.
