Lactation Consultant - Maternal Child Services - Per Diem Days

About This Role The Lactation Consultant provides assessment, intervention, and education regarding breastfeeding to childbearing families choosing to breastfeed their infants. This role is ideal for those passionate about supporting new mothers and families in their breastfeeding journey. Highlights Location: Brick, NJ Facility: Hackensack Meridian Health Schedule: Per Diem, Day shift What You’ll Do Assess patients' understanding of signs of adequate milk transfer and breastfeeding techniques. Demonstrate age-specific competencies during patient interactions. Communicate essential breastfeeding skills to mothers and families. Make follow-up phone calls to breastfeeding patients within one week of discharge. Formulate age-specific patient/family-centered goals based on assessment data. Establish and coordinate a patient/family-focused plan of care. Plan work within allotted hours and manage time effectively for patient contact. Document all teaching and interventions provided to breastfeeding families. Assist with nursing staff competencies and physician education regarding breastfeeding. Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Requirements Education: Associate's Degree required Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Nursing preferred Experience: Minimum of 2 years as an OB nurse required Experience in lactation consultation in acute care, community, or public health setting preferred Licenses & Certifications: Current NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License required AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification required International Board Certified Lactation Consultant preferred within 3 years of hire About Hackensack Meridian Health Hackensack Meridian Health is a leading healthcare provider committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
