About the Position

Job Title: Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC Must-Have: Must have previous charge experience. Experience with a patient ratio of 2:1. Flexibility to float to other units as needed. Must live 150 miles or more from the facility. Description: The position involves working in a mixed ICU, caring for diverse patient populations including medical, surgical, trauma, and open heart cases. Candidates will be required to manage critically ill patients and provide comprehensive nursing care. Responsibilities include accessing and managing ports, arterial line management, and assisting with chest tube insertion and removal. In addition, the nurse will be involved in BiPAP/CPAP management and blood product administration. Management of ventilated patients and monitoring hemodynamic status is crucial. The role also involves care for patients with chronic and acute renal failure as well as multisystem organ dysfunction. Candidates must demonstrate skill in interpreting arterial blood gases and managing dysrhythmias. Suctioning procedures, starting and maintaining IVs, and managing cardiac drips are expected tasks. The facility emphasizes infection prevention and adherence to isolation precautions. Interdisciplinary support is provided by physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Applicants should possess strong clinical judgment and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. A commitment to continuous learning, including completing required certifications, is essential. Strong communication and teamwork skills are vital in delivering high-quality patient care. Additional requirements may include compliance with drug screening regulations.
