About the Position

Job Title: Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in the ICU setting required. License: Active Registered Nurse License required. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, TNCC. Must-Have: Flexible to float to other units as needed. Must live 150 miles or more from the facility. Description: The role requires the management of critically ill patients. Experience with a patient ratio of 2:1 is necessary. The unit cares for a mixed patient population, including medical, surgical, trauma, and open heart cases. Burn and ECMO patients are not included. Candidates must possess skills in accessing and managing Ports, arterial line management, and BiPAP/CPAP management. Assistance with chest tube insertion and removal is expected. Blood product administration and care of ventilated patients are part of the responsibilities. Knowledge in managing central lines and care for patients with chronic or acute renal failure is required. Experience with continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade is essential. Understanding of CVA and acute stroke management is necessary. Emergency medication administration and interpretation of arterial blood gases are crucial. Candidates should be familiar with high flow nasal cannula management. Infection prevention techniques must be applied consistently. The ability to interpret dysrhythmias and manage them appropriately is important. Isolation precautions and PPE adherence are mandatory. Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure is expected. Proficient phlebotomy skills are required. Post-cardiac surgery and post-neurosurgery management experience is preferred. Candidates should be capable of sedation administration and monitoring. Ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring skills are necessary. The unit provides interdisciplinary support from various specialties, including physical therapy and respiratory services. Additional skills with CRRT and IABP procedures are beneficial.
