Overview The Assistant District Office Supervisor assists in overseeing the DMV's Southern Mobile Unit team which consists of 3 Mobile Unit Client Support Specialists. The Assistant Supervisor will:

Applicant will have the right to withdraw their applications before finger-printing and/or a background investigation is conducted. Environmental Factors Duties are performed predominately in an office setting; however, exposure to the elements for long periods of time may be required. Private means of travel should be available for occasional travel when appropriate. Incumbents must be adaptable and able to work within tight time limits and under considerable stress. Some evening and weekend duty may be necessary. Incumbents must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure before the public eye and from telephone inquiries. Due to significant public contact exposure to contagious illnesses is a daily risk. Incumbents must be able to deal with confused, frustrated, and highly upset customers and handle large sums of money. Within the office setting, normal workplace conditions prevail. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent AND at least four (4) years or more of customer service work experience INCLUDING two (2) years administrative or clerical work.
OR Two (2) years as an employee with the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles in licensing or registration. Preferred Qualifications One (1) year or more supervisory experience or equivalent training(s). Prior DMV experience. Special Requirements A valid driver's license is required.
An applicant's vision must be correctable to 20/40 (Snellen test) in both eyes, with normal color perception and field of vision.
Must possess or acquire a Commercial Learner's Permit within one (6) months of employment. Must possess or acquire a Class A CDL license with all endorsements, including motorcycle, within one (1) year of employment. The frequency, recentness, and nature of any court conviction(s) and/or a person's traffic record may cause disqualification. - Assist with interviewing, hiring, and training of new staff.
- Support the direct supervisor with assigning tasks to a group of subordinate employees, monitoring their progress and assuming completion of tasks.
- Maintain knowledge of, and assures compliance with, agency/department work rules, standards of conduct and VSEA agreement.
- Act as supervisor when the direct supervisor is unavailable.
