About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Research to lead its senior research executive team. The successful candidate will be responsible for an interdisciplinary applied-science program that enhances the understanding of diving-related injuries, human performance in underwater environments, and practical methods of risk reduction. This executive leadership role demands a hands-on approach to department management, with a focus on ensuring that evidence-based findings translate into tangible safety improvements for divers, dive professionals, and the broader dive industry. The Vice President will be accountable for the department's mission and strategic direction, as well as for the scientific quality, ethics, and compliance of the research portfolio. Essential responsibilities include leading and managing the research department, fostering external partnerships, and representing the organization in a financial and resource stewardship capacity. Applicants for the Vice President of Research position at the company must hold a doctoral degree or equivalent advanced clinical or scientific qualification in a relevant discipline, with at least 10 years' experience in applied, translational, clinical, operational, or safety research. A strong background in scientific research, project management, and people leadership is essential. The role requires a candidate with a proven ability to translate scientific findings into practical applications, substantive knowledge in mission-relevant areas, and a strong command of research design and methods. Preferred qualifications include experience as a certified diver, in extreme environments, and a record of credible scientific contribution. The ideal candidate will demonstrate core leadership competencies in mission stewardship, managerial accountability, scientific judgment, and operational execution, and will be adept at executive communication and collaboration.
