Director of Pharmacy

Job Title Director of Pharmacy Job Summary Licensed pharmacists who are responsible for planning, organizing, directing and providing safe and appropriate pharmacy services for Option Care patients in the assigned areas and locations. The Director of Pharmacy coordinates patient services with nursing, delivery and reimbursement departments, manages budgeting, purchasing, inventory and security of all drug products and medical supplies, and assists the Senior Director of Operations in meeting operational and financial goals. Responsibilities Determine suitability of patients for home care. Supervise, monitor and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of patient care provided by pharmacy staff. Oversee daily activities for effective operations and communication across assigned pharmacy locations. Schedule work activities of pharmacy staff to meet pharmaceutical care needs of patients. Develop and mentor staff through onboarding, training, open communication and performance management processes. Oversee product purchasing, inventory, budget and equipment management. Assist the Senior Director of Operations in preparing, securing approval for, and implementing operating and expenditure budgets for the department. Evaluate and oversee the purchase, management and security of all medications, pumps and medical supplies in accordance with company policies and formulary guidelines. Provide support to sales professionals and general managers by accurately describing the scope of services available through Option Care. Meet with managed care organizations and other accounts to facilitate education regarding available services. Serve as Administrator in Charge with the Nurse Manager in the absence of the Senior Director of Operations. Collect and organize all patient‑specific information needed to prevent, detect and resolve medication‑related problems and to make appropriate medication therapy recommendations. Monitor the clinical staff’s documentation for home care and ATS patients and evaluate competency in pharmacokinetic principles. Coordinate and participate in on‑call responsibilities of the pharmacy department, ensuring reliable coverage. Manage the use of investigational drug products according to established regulations and company policies. Ensure compliance with accreditation, legal, regulatory and safety requirements in all activities. Qualifications & Experience Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy. At least 5 years of pharmacy management experience in a specialty or compounding pharmacy setting. At least 5 years of direct management experience, including hiring, developing, motivating and directing staff. At least 3 years of experience in indirect management of team members. At least 3 years of experience planning, developing and managing departmental expenses and budgets. Experience compounding sterile products and managing patient care. Experience overseeing purchasing and inventory processes for all pharmaceutical and related supplies. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Access to reliable transportation; personal vehicle with valid driver’s license and proof of insurance if required. Active membership in a state or national clinical, pharmaceutical or home health care organization. Experience identifying operational issues and recommending strategies for resolution. Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers with quality standards and evaluation of satisfaction. Travel Willing to travel up to 75% of the time for business purposes (within and out of state), as agreed with the Senior Director of Operations and Area Leadership. Preferred Qualifications Post‑graduate residency program in clinical pharmacy services. Board certification in Nutrition Support Pharmacy, Pharmacotherapy or other clinical pharmacy practice area. Experience managing inventory and logistics. At least 5 years of experience compounding sterile products and managing complex infusion patients. At least 3 years of experience overseeing purchasing, inventory process and capital budgets. Salary Range: $129,386.61 – $215,629.34, determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and market data.
