LPN Profession: Licensed Practical NurseJob Title: LPN Profession: Licensed Practical Nurse Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 40 hours Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: Not specified License: Valid LPN License Certifications: Not specified Must-Have: Experience in geriatric nursing Description: Schedule: 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM. Full-time or PRN available. Block scheduling which rotates. Always 2 days off in a row and every other weekend. Administer medications and perform treatments as ordered by the physician and within the scope of license. Medications may be in a variety of forms including oral, enteral, parenteral, and suppository. Treatments may include sterile and aseptic wound cleaning, dressing, postural drainage, percussion, tracheostomy, gastrostomy, jejunostomy care, and catheter care. Observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatments. Ensure an adequate supply of medications is available. Receive and deliver a variety of information regarding the resident's medical, social, functional, and other needs. Participate in receiving and giving shift reports. Communicate with residents, families, and staff as necessary to ensure appropriate care is provided. Complete the initial admission nursing assessment tool on newly admitted residents. Assist with the development of Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, ongoing quarterly reviews, and care plans. Maintain appropriate clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnoses, observations, treatments, and summaries of resident progress. Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs. Attend and participate in staff meetings. Knowledge of: Gerontological/geriatric nursing theory and practice. Effects of the aging process. Practices and procedures of team nursing. Practices and procedures for implementing treatment plans for resident care. Practices and procedures of pharmacology and medications. Federal and state laws, rules, and regulations governing practical nursing practices. Skills in: Observing and reporting the behavior and progress of residents. Applying and interpreting laws and regulations governing nursing practices. Assisting in the development and implementation of patient care plans within a team concept. Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Ability to: Abide by nursing regulations. Listen, observe, assess, and respond to medical emergencies. Evaluate, analyze, make independent decisions, and follow up regarding client health problems. Respond to medical issues and inquiries in a professional manner.
