Interim Controller

Interim Controller (3-6 Month Engagement) Location: Irvine, CA (On-Site 5 Days per Week) Duration: 3-6 Months Employment Type: Interim/Contract Position Overview Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is currently seeking an experienced Interim Controller to join a dynamic manufacturing organization in Irvine, CA. This highly visible leadership role will oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions while providing hands-on guidance to a large accounting team during a critical transition period. The ideal candidate possesses deep manufacturing industry expertise, significant experience working within large ERP environments, and a proven track record managing sizeable accounting organizations. Key Responsibilities Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and cost accounting. Oversee and develop a team of 8+ direct reports, fostering accountability and operational excellence. Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting. Support executive leadership with financial analysis and operational insights. Drive process improvements and strengthen internal controls. Partner with operations, supply chain, and manufacturing leadership to improve financial visibility and performance. Manage audit support and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies. Assess accounting processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and scalability. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA strongly preferred. 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience. Previous experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller in a manufacturing environment. Strong large ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar). Demonstrated success leading teams with 8+ direct reports. Excellent communication, leadership, and change management skills. Ability to quickly assess issues and implement practical solutions in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Experience Mid-sized to large manufacturing company background. Cost accounting and inventory accounting expertise. ERP implementations, upgrades, or optimization projects. Experience managing through periods of growth, transition, or transformation. Compensation : Competitive hourly or project-based compensation commensurate with experience. Pay range is $75-$85 per hour. Ideal Candidate Profile : A hands-on manufacturing Controller who can immediately step into a leadership role, manage a large accounting team, navigate a sophisticated ERP environment, and provide stability during a 3-6 month engagement while working fully on-site in Irvine. Work Hours : Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
