Regional Account Manager - New York City, South New York

About the Department Novo Nordisk’s Market Access and Public Affairs team engages diverse stakeholders across political and healthcare landscapes to forge solutions that drive patient access to innovative products. Position Overview Builds relationships and differentiates Novo Nordisk products in the marketplace with targeted accounts that influence patient access and care. Targets include a range of influential stakeholders and decision makers, including but not limited to payers, regional PBMs, health systems, municipalities, coalitions, specialty pharmacy, federal agencies and employers. Account activities include formulary placement/consideration for Novo Nordisk products and integrating the overall NNI brand across the customer’s organizational structure. Reporting & Key Collaboration This position reports into a Director or Senior Director within the Area Market Access Team. Internally, the role informs all appropriate NNI personnel of any access changes or updates in account status within targeted accounts, potentially impacting sales, marketing and other efforts across the organization. Key collaboration partners include the Market Access & Public Affairs Team, PCOR, Marketing, Area Commercial Sales Team, Medical Affairs, Legal & Compliance and Human Resources. External relationships include responsibility for multiple channels and customers as outlined in the purpose of this job description. The role develops productive relationships with key account personnel, including C‑suite executives and department heads, and maintains relationships with local associations, organizations and patient support partners. Essential Functions Master product and disease state knowledge: Demonstrates a clear and thorough understanding of targeted disease states, their impact on stakeholders, and the full range of treatment options and clinical outcomes. Leverage knowledge of Novo Nordisk and competitor products to communicate effectively with decision makers and differentiate NNI products in alignment with customer and patient needs. Demonstrate business acumen: Gather and demonstrate a thorough understanding of integrated customer accounts, business models, financial dynamics, marketplace developments, competitive strategies, healthcare policy and NNI strategies. Build knowledge about national sales and marketing strategies and adapt to a region’s unique market dynamics; observe the changing healthcare environment and adjust business plans accordingly. Coordinate, implement and follow through on all relevant account contracts. Keep abreast of pricing changes and their impact on customer relationships and decision‑making. Highlight NNI PRB approved patient‑centric resources when relevant. Build and maintain business‑relevant relationships: Leverage a network of internal and external stakeholders to ensure an aligned, customer‑focused approach for executing business plans, including collaboration with Sales colleagues. Identify key stakeholders who impact relevant customer accounts. Develop plans to gain access to, build, maintain and leverage ongoing business‑relevant relationships. Maintain current customer information within approved NNI CRM platform(s). Develop and execute business plans: Identify opportunities across geography, create plans with leadership guidance to facilitate access to the NNI portfolio, engage cross‑functional teams for alignment, and follow up with stakeholders to review product value, quality of care and account satisfaction. Physical Requirements 30‑40% overnight travel required. Driver must maintain a valid driver’s license and remain in good standing by not exceeding the Novo Nordisk points threshold assigned based on review of Motor Vehicle Records. Qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree in a business‑relevant field preferred. Previous experience as a people manager preferred. At least 5 years of pharmaceutical/biotech/healthcare industry experience required. At least 1 year of successful account management or other relevant experience within the healthcare market; relevant Novo Nordisk experience may substitute where appropriate. Multiple channel and customer experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to deliver effective customer presentations. Compensation and Benefits Regional Account Manager I – $116,810 to $216,100 Regional Account Manager II – $116,810 to $216,100 Sr Regional Account Manager – $148,290 to $259,510 This position is eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance. Novo Nordisk offers long‑term incentive compensation and/or company vehicles depending on the position’s level or other company factors.
