Dermatology Nurse Practitioner/ Physician Assistant

NP/PA POSITION Alamo City Dermatology seeks a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our team in providing high-quality dermatologic care. The ideal candidate will conduct thorough patient examinations, interpret diagnostic tests, assist in medical procedures, and manage treatment plans in collaboration with our Medical Director. This role requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication, EMR documentation and coding proficiency, and a patient-centered approach to care. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including one dedicated hour for administrative duties. This position is subject to start in October of 2026. Compensation: $50 hourly (Bonus eligibility begins after meeting a defined patient volume threshold.) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Examine patients to obtain information about their physical condition Interpret diagnostic test results for deviations from normal Must arrive at the assigned time and be ready to perform the assigned duties Make tentative diagnoses and decisions about the management and treatment of patients Obtain, compile, and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes, and results of physical examination Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and laboratory tests Prescribe therapy or medication with Medical Director approval Perform therapeutic procedures, such as injections, suturing and wound care, and infection management Instruct and counsel patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance Provide providers with assistance during surgery or complicated medical procedures Provide well‑written and accurate patient encounter notes that include: History of present illness, physical exam, assessment, and plan. Assign appropriate EMR and CPT codes for patient encounters The employee will perform other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Must have at least a year of experience as a PA or NP Must give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times Must understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem‑solving and decision‑making Must be able to talk to others to convey information effectively Must be able to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work‑related documents Must be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems Must be able to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the patients and the Medical Director Must be able to manage one’s own time and the time of others Must be able to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one Must be able to use scientific rules and methods to solve problems Must familiarize and understand ICD‑10 coding rules. Must have an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Texas, USA. Must not have an unresolved malpractice lawsuit. Must keep current and up to date required certifications/CME/Licenses, and any other obligations Required to practice medicine in the state of Texas. PERSONAL QUALITIES Mentally alert, in good physical health Patient, courteous, and tactful with a neat and friendly appearance Ability to communicate and relate well with providers and other office staff Must be able to follow directions well from the Medical Director OTHER SPECIAL CONDITIONS As required by the Medical Director and/or Practice Administrator, the individual is expected to attend some classes that educate and improve medical service Must be willing to serve emergencies during off‑hours if directed by the Medical Director, Practice Manager, or Practice Administrator. Any other assigned duties by the Medical Director and/or Practice Manager, or Practice Administrator SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP Reports to the Medical Director regarding medical problems and Practice Administrator or Practice Manager regarding business matters.
