POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing our trucking operations across multiple regions. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost‑effective movement of freight while maintaining high standards of customer service and regulatory compliance

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION

Oversee daily trucking operations across terminals, dispatch, routing, and fleet management to ensure on-time delivery and service excellence Lead, coach, and develop a team of terminal managers, dispatchers, and drivers. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and performance Ensure payroll accuracy for assigned drivers Champion a safety‑first culture Manage a fleet of trucks and trailers, ensuring optimal utilization, maintenance scheduling, and compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations Own operational budgets, cost control, and performance metrics. Identify opportunities to improve margins through efficiency and innovation Expedite the billing process by managing user discrepancy queue Leverage TMS (Transportation Management Systems), telematics, and analytics tools to drive visibility, automation, and decision‑making Partner with sales and customer service teams to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded Serve as an extension of Sales to expand business revenue by exploring all opportunities with Customers Participate in all service‑oriented calls for accounts/customers Ensure all operations comply with federal, state, and local transportation laws and safety standards. Lead safety initiatives Support or lead initiatives related to network optimization, sustainability, capacity planning, and expansion Demonstrate a consistently positive and professional demeanor, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment Encourage constructive dialogue for the team, even during periods of change or challenge Handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity. Uphold confidentiality standards in all communications and decisions, ensuring trust and compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements

OTHER SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE

Maintaining regular and reliable attendance, along with being available in an on‑call status Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations. Perform additional duties as assigned Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED 2+ years of experience in the transportation or logistics industry, often starting in roles like dispatcher, driver manager, driver, or logistics coordinator Proficiency in TMS platforms, route optimization tools, and data analytics Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and safety protocols Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field 3+ experience in operations management, ideally within the trucking or freight industry REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.) Ability to work and communicate effectively with others, promoting a team environment Accepts constructive criticism with professionalism and uses it as a tool for continuous learning and skill enhancement Effectively communicates with personnel at all organizational levels, both internal and external, to foster collaboration and drive process improvements Strong listening skills to fully understand customer concerns, able to respond with thoughtful solutions, and handle criticism constructively and without emotional reactivity Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills PREFERRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.) Proficiency in Microsoft Office products Knowledge of Transportation, Operations, and/or Logistics Industries Experience in TMW Office Suite and ELD systems Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to work in a fast-paced office and field environment Occasional travel to terminals, customer sites, or operational meetingsMust be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods May be required to climb into trucks or trailers for inspections or operational reviews Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally On-call and/or after-hours availability may be required
