Jamie Benway with Robert Half is searching for an Accounting Manager to oversee core financial operations and help maintain accurate, timely reporting for a mission-driven organization. This role is suited for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting specialist who can manage daily financial activities, support monthly close processes, and collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly closing activities by reviewing account activity, preparing necessary adjustments, and ensuring financial records are complete and accurate.

• Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining supporting documentation and reconciling general ledger accounts on a regular basis.

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including bookkeeping functions and the accuracy of financial data across systems.

• Support payroll-related accounting tasks and coordinate with internal or external partners to help ensure timely and correct processing.

• Generate financial reports for leadership and assist with analysis that supports budgeting, planning, and operational decision-making.

• Help maintain compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and organizational policies throughout financial processes.

• Work collaboratively with team members across functions, providing clear guidance and responsive communication on accounting matters.

• Contribute to the effective use of accounting and payroll platforms, including systems such as Financial Edge and Paylocity, when applicable.

• At least 4 to 5 years of hands-on experience in accounting or finance

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.

• Solid understanding of accounting standards and financial controls, including generally accepted accounting principles.

• Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing applications, and database-related tools.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work respectfully across diverse teams.

• Background in nonprofit accounting is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with accounting software such as Financial Edge and payroll systems such as Paylocity is preferred.

• Valid driver’s license, access to an insured vehicle during work hours, and ability to complete required background, employment, motor vehicle, and candidate screening processes.
