Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN Bronx, NY

The organization is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This role will provide high-acuity post-operative care, including management of patients transitioning from intensive care settings. Candidates must bring their license on the first day of employment.

Job Details

• Schedule: Days shift; 11.5 hours per shift; minimum 34.5 hours per week
• Required Qualifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA)
  • License to submit: Yes
  • License must be brought on the first day
  • Vaccination: Flu vaccine required (no exemptions or exceptions)
  • Experience requirement: Minimum 2 years (experience listed for the role)
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pediatric experience
• Additional Information:
  • Unit setting includes higher-acuity patients in PACU as boarders from ICU-level care, with patients sometimes waiting for beds beyond recovery time
  • Experience priorities include transitioning from ICU to PACU, kidney transplant post-operative care (including strict intake and output and electrolyte/lab awareness), neuro post-procedure assessment, bariatric/high-risk airway patient monitoring, airway and sedation management, and prioritization/multitasking with appropriate escalation
  • Charting is completed in EPIC
