This Emergency Department RN traveler opportunity is located in Rome, Georgia, a welcoming community in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Rome offers a vibrant historic downtown, scenic riverfront walking and biking trails, and a rich arts and cultural scene. The city has charming local restaurants, boutiques, and coffee shops, as well as numerous parks and outdoor recreation areas. With a friendly, small-city feel and easy access to Atlanta and Chattanooga, Rome provides both relaxation and convenience for travelers looking to explore north Georgia. The hospital features a busy Emergency Department that serves a diverse population from Rome and the surrounding northwest Georgia region. Travelers can expect exposure to a wide range of emergency presentations, including medical, surgical, cardiac, orthopedic, and occasional trauma cases. The ED is supported by experienced physicians, advanced practice providers, and a collaborative nursing team that values communication, mutual support, and high-quality patient care. The environment emphasizes evidence-based practice, continuous improvement, and safe patient flow. Travel nurses can expect 12-hour scheduling that includes a mix of day, mid, and night coverage, with participation in weekends and holidays as part of a rotating schedule. Specific shift assignments will be arranged with the department based on current needs and traveler preference when possible. A typical day or night in this ED involves rapid triage of incoming patients, thorough assessment and documentation, coordination of diagnostic testing, and collaboration with physicians and ancillary staff to initiate treatment plans. Nurses will perform interventions such as medication administration, IV starts, wound care, cardiac monitoring, and support of airway and respiratory needs. You will provide education and emotional support to patients and families, help manage patient flow and throughput, and participate in handoffs and interdisciplinary huddles. Patient ratios are designed to balance safety with efficiency, and can vary based on acuity, volume, and staffing model. Nurses may care for a mix of high-acuity and lower-acuity patients, with support from charge nurses and ancillary staff. The ED is equipped with modern monitoring technology and diagnostic capabilities, and the hospital’s leadership is invested in creating a supportive workplace where travelers feel welcomed, oriented, and integrated into the team.
