Addison Group is hiring for our client, a growing healthcare organization, seeking an experienced Commercial Billing & Collections Supervisor to lead a team supporting inpatient rehabilitation and long-term acute care hospital billing.

This position will supervise 58 billing and collections professionals while remaining hands-on with complex claims, denials, underpayments, appeals, and payer issues.

The ideal candidate has previous hospital-based commercial collections experience and understands the complete billing and reimbursement process from claim submission through final resolution.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide daily direction to a team of 58 billing and collections employees
• Oversee commercial insurance billing and collections for LTACH and inpatient rehabilitation (IRF) services
• Monitor AR aging, denials, underpayments, outstanding claims, and collection activity
• Assign workloads and monitor team productivity and follow-up
• Coach, train, and support team members
• Identify reimbursement trends and barriers impacting collections
• Assist with complex claims, appeals, denials, and payment discrepancies
• Ensure claims are billed accurately and within timely filing requirements
• Review payer contracts, payment methodologies, and account balance variances
• Track collections, aging, productivity, and outstanding balances
• Partner with Revenue Cycle leadership to resolve payer and billing issues
• Ensure compliance with payer requirements and internal policies

Qualifications

• 23+ years of Team Lead or Supervisor experience in medical billing/collections
• Inpatient hospital collections experience required
• Strong commercial insurance billing and collections knowledge
• Understanding of insurance plans, payer contracts, and reimbursement methodologies
• Ability to work a commercial claim from billing through final resolution
• Experience identifying and resolving denials, underpayments, and balance discrepancies
• Strong knowledge of AR follow-up and collection strategies
• Ability to analyze complex claims and determine appropriate next steps
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment

Preferred:

• LTACH or inpatient rehabilitation/IRF experience
• Experience with WellSky or similar hospital Revenue Cycle systems
• Experience managing remote billing or collections teams

Productivity & Team Environment

Team members typically work approximately 2030 claims per day, with an emphasis on appropriate account resolution rather than simply touching accounts.

The Supervisor will receive initial training with management before transitioning into independent ownership of the team. Daily huddles and ongoing leadership support are available.
