Position Summary Reporting to the Rehabilitation Therapies Supervisor/Manager, the Staff Physical Therapist conducts comprehensive assessments of in‑ and outpatients with physical and functional deficits, plans and implements individual and group physical therapy treatments to promote mobility, reduce pain, restore function, prevent disability, and enhance independence. The role collaborates with other disciplines for appropriate follow‑up care and facilitates successful return to home and work environments. The therapist also provides student training and participates in continuous education. Job Responsibilities Conducts physical therapy evaluation procedures following professional and departmental guidelines. Responds to all consults in the assigned area within 24 hours and completes evaluation and documentation within 24 hours of consult (IP). Selects evaluation procedures that reflect the patient’s diagnosis, abilities, and limitations and interprets evaluation results to make recommendations. Establishes treatment goals and plans that meet departmental, institutional, and third‑party reimbursement requirements. Sets measurable short‑ and long‑term goals in collaboration with the patient and/or caregiver and modifies goals as warranted by changes in patient status. Implements comprehensive individual and group treatment programs. Establishes treatment priorities based on evaluation results, uses creative approaches, and collaborates with the team to progress patient care. Recommends appropriate assistive devices or durable medical equipment and instructs patients and caregivers in home programs. Complies with departmental, institutional, and accrediting agency policies and standards. Completes area‑specific documentation accurately and timely, maintains productivity standards, and participates in peer review and mandatory training. Demonstrates ongoing professional growth by pursuing independent learning opportunities, attending professional meetings, and staying current with advances in physical therapy treatments and regulations. Participates in the development and evaluation of physical therapy programs, contributing to unit plans, quality improvement projects, and data collection for outcome studies. Collaborates with colleagues and other professionals to provide high‑quality patient care, serves as a clinical resource, supports staff, and demonstrates leadership in challenging situations. Orients medical professionals, students, and the community to physical therapy services, supervises students, and provides educational feedback and performance evaluations. Acts in accordance with the hospital’s values, making decisions that support the mission and culture of the organization. Adheres to established hospital infection control and safety procedures. Job Requirements Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution (or equivalent). Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current Commonwealth of Massachusetts license at time of hire; APTA and MCAPTA membership preferred; Current BLS/CPR certification. Experience: New graduates welcome; experienced therapists encouraged to apply. Knowledge and Skills: Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team; analytical skills to evaluate patient condition, progress, and develop treatment programs. Compensation and Benefits Compensation Range: $37.50–$54.33, based on qualifications.
