Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Technician, Liu Lab

Position Overview The laboratory of Dr. Liu at the Department of Biology, Saint Louis University, St. Louis, MO, USA, seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher associate or research technician to study the structure and function of proteins involved in photophysics and photochemistry in both oxygenic photosynthesis (e.g., cyanobacteria and higher plants) and anoxygenic photosynthesis (green sulfur bacteria, GSB). Responsibilities Conduct research on the structure and function of proteins in photophysics and photochemistry. Perform protein expression, purification, and isolation. Utilize bioinformatics and structural modeling techniques. Apply bioinformatics, proteomics, and basic microbiology techniques. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary research environment. Qualifications Recent PhD in Plant/Microbial Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline. Experience in photosynthesis, bioinformatics, and proteomics. Experience in basic microbiology techniques, including tissue culture or algal culture. Proficiency in molecular biology (PCR, cloning, protein expression, and isolation from E. coli). Experience in protein biochemistry (chromatography, SDS‑PAGE, western blot, enzymatic assays, protein chemical labeling). Strong oral and written communication skills. Independence and project leadership skills. Basic mass spectrometry knowledge and techniques. Benefits & Working Conditions Competitive pay at NIH postdoctoral level. Generous benefit package.
