Hydraulic/Hydrology Engineer/Project Manager

Role Description Huitt‑Zollars offers a full‑time Hydraulic/Hydrology Engineer/Project Manager position at the Phoenix office. Preference is a licensed engineer in Arizona with at least five years of experience. Experience in the Phoenix area is desired. The role involves working collaboratively in a team environment providing hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, modeling, and design for public infrastructure and flood control projects. Location Phoenix, Arizona Employment Type 40 hours per week, full time Compensation Type Salary Registration Professional Licensed PE required Education Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) Duties Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic analysis using a wide range of models, including HEC‑RAS, HEC‑RAS 2D, HEC‑HMS, and FLO‑2D. Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic studies and FEMA permitting. Research jurisdictional drainage requirements for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings. Oversee production of drainage design and construction drawings using AutoCAD. Perform data management and prepare exhibits using ArcGIS and QGIS. Work as a member of a multi‑discipline team. Mentor EIT staff regarding hydrologic and hydraulic theory and practice. Conduct site visits and document findings. Write and coordinate preparation of graphic materials for presentations and documents. Key Responsibilities Understand, follow, and enforce Huitt‑Zollars' business process. Collaborate productively with PMs and encourage teams to achieve success and camaraderie. Follow HZ QMS and quality initiatives, ensuring quality control measures are adhered to on projects and daily operations. Maintain job knowledge and technical skills, updating them as needed. Contribute to successful delivery and performance of projects. Complete assignments on time, within budget, and with the highest level of quality. Propose and implement more effective ways to accomplish tasks. Prepare and follow comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project, assisting the Principal in ensuring proper staff is assigned and utilized. Review project reports and performance metrics to track progress and budget, leading successful projects in profit, schedule, quality, and client satisfaction. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE). Minimum five years’ drainage engineering experience. Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong organizational and communication skills. Works well in a team environment. Thorough attention to detail. Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and techniques. Ability to prepare civil engineering documents and specifications for projects. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Must concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
