RN PACU

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides skilled nursing care to patients recovering from surgery. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective post-operative care. The nurse must be flexible with scheduling and committed to completing assigned shifts without relief due to the outpatient surgery environment. A minimum of one year of nursing experience and an active California RN license are required. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to post-operative patients in the PACU.
• Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs closely.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
• Document patient status and interventions accurately and timely.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during recovery from anesthesia.
• Manage patient flow and discharge from the PACU according to protocols.
• Maintain compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of California.
• Minimum of 1 year nursing experience.
• Clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred but not mandatory.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in PACU or perioperative nursing.
• Familiarity with outpatient surgery protocols and patient care.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

Special Considerations:

• Flexible scheduling required with primary shifts from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM or 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
• Nurses are expected to stay for the entire shift without relief due to outpatient surgery workflow.
• RTO (Return to Office) restrictions limit work from home to no more than 7 days.
• Work environment is an acute care facility requiring adherence to infection control and safety protocols.

Scheduling:

• Primarily 12-hour shifts with start times varying between 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM depending on daily assignments.
• Weekend availability may be required.
• Shift assignments are subject to change based on operational needs and patient volume.
