Position Position Category: Adjunct FLSA: Exempt Location: Thousand Oaks Basic Function Under the direction of the Dean, Department Chair or Program Director, the Adjunct Faculty Member is responsible for providing academic instruction to students for the assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Representative Duties Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills among students through appropriate assignments and activities in one-on-one, classroom, and distance-mediated instructional settings. Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions of higher education, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services, programs, resources, and other professionals as appropriate. Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes; provide timely feedback to student inquiries in class, online, or during office hours. Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes; implement the student performance objectives as listed on the official course outline of record. Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes; prepare and submit data and reports related to course and student progress in a timely manner. Evaluate and select instructional materials in collaboration with discipline faculty; order materials to ensure timely delivery. Performs related duties as assigned. E = Essential Duties Knowledge Of Current theory and practice within the subject discipline Principles and best practices of effective teaching Ability To Demonstrate thorough and accurate knowledge in the subject field Deliver course curricula in various learning styles Exhibit sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of University students Exhibit sensitivity to the needs of students with disabilities Integrate instructional delivery technologies to enhance teaching Maintain professional standards that protect student confidentiality Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Minimum Qualifications Possession of a master's degree from a graduate institution of recognized standing or equivalent experience and professional recognition. Preferred Qualifications None Licenses And Other Requirements None Physical Abilities Manual dexterity to operate office equipment; speaking to provide instruction and presentations; sitting or standing for extended periods; lifting light objects; bending and reaching to store or retrieve files. Working Environment Indoor classroom environment; may visit a variety of classroom sites on campus.
