Job Title Coordinator of Outdoor Adventure Agency East Texas A&M University Department Campus Recreation Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Commerce, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Job Summary The Coordinator of Outdoor Adventure plans, organizes, directs, and manages the day‑to‑day activities and long‑term strategy for a comprehensive outdoor adventure program at East Texas A&M University. This includes supervision of a graduate assistant, part‑time employees, facility management, and program development. Facilities include a climbing wall, challenge course, and disc golf course. Duties & Responsibilities Lead, develop, implement, and evaluate outdoor recreation activities including workshops, events, and trips, ensuring Campus Rec policies are followed. Manage day‑to‑day operations of the indoor climbing facility. Recruit, hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and develop all outdoor student staff. Oversee one outdoor adventure graduate assistant. Maintain the outdoor adventure challenge course, including high and low elements and team‑building initiatives. Direct trips program and outdoor adventure events and workshops. Oversee maintenance and upkeep of the disc golf course. Operate a fully equipped gear rental program, including inventory management and monthly inspections. Develop and implement long‑term and short‑term program goals. Establish and oversee risk management policies for all outdoor programs. Manage budget, purchases, inventory, and equipment maintenance. Obtain required certifications within specified timeframes: CPR/AED/FA Instructor (within 6 months); Wilderness First Aid (within 6 months); AMGA Climbing Wall Instructor (within 6 months); ACCT Level1 (within 12 months). General Department Duties & Responsibilities Commit to a welcoming, inclusive environment. Support department mission, vision, values, and strategic plan. Minimum Requirements Education : Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience/Knowledge/Skills : One year of combined, related outdoor adventure programming experience in a collegiate, community, or private setting. Officiated a minimum of one sport at the intramural, high school, or collegiate level. Ability to : multitask and work cooperatively with others. Physical Requirements : move on uneven terrain, work in outdoor weather, ascend, descend, and traverse climbing walls and challenge course, and lead outdoor trips. Preferred Education / Skills / Experience Graduate assistantship or certifications in an outdoor related field.
