Clinical Director, Behavioral Health PHP/IOP

Location: Delray Beach, Florida

Job Type: Full-Time

Work Setting: Onsite behavioral health PHP, IOP, and outpatient treatment program

Schedule: Monday-Friday, primarily daytime program hours

Pay: $100,000-$115,000 annually

Overview

A structured behavioral health treatment program in Delray Beach is seeking a licensed Clinical Director to lead clinical services across PHP, IOP, and outpatient levels of care.

This position is ideal for an experienced behavioral health leader who understands addiction treatment, co-occurring mental health conditions, trauma-informed care, clinical documentation, and staff development. The Clinical Director will guide therapists and other clinical personnel while maintaining high standards for treatment quality, safety, ethics, compliance, and continuity of care.

The successful candidate will be approachable, clinically confident, organized, and comfortable balancing program leadership with hands-on involvement in complex client care.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight for the clinical department.
• Supervise, support, mentor, and develop therapists, group facilitators, and other clinical personnel.
• Lead clinical meetings, case consultations, caseload reviews, and interdisciplinary treatment-team discussions.
• Ensure clients receive individualized and clinically appropriate treatment based on their diagnoses, needs, strengths, risks, and recovery goals.
• Oversee clinical assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge plans, and other required documentation.
• Review clinical records for accuracy, timeliness, medical necessity, consistency, and compliance with organizational and payer requirements.
• Establish and maintain clinical standards, procedures, workflows, and expectations across PHP, IOP, and outpatient programming.
• Support the development and evaluation of individual, group, family, trauma, addiction, relapse-prevention, and behavioral-addiction services.
• Collaborate with medical providers, operations, admissions, executive leadership, and outside providers to support coordinated care.
• Guide transitions between levels of care and ensure discharge and aftercare plans support continued recovery.
• Provide direction regarding complex cases, behavioral concerns, professional boundaries, grievances, and clinical risk.
• Support crisis intervention, safety planning, incident review, and escalation of urgent clinical concerns.
• Train staff in trauma-informed care, addiction treatment, documentation, professional boundaries, cultural responsiveness, and evidence-informed practices.
• Monitor clinical performance, identify training needs, and provide constructive feedback and accountability.
• Participate in the hiring, onboarding, orientation, and evaluation of clinical team members.
• Provide individual, family, or group clinical services when needed to support clients and program operations.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a closely related behavioral health field.
• Active and unrestricted Florida clinical license, such as LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or an equivalent independently licensed credential.
• At least five years of behavioral health clinical experience.
• Clinical experience treating substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
• Previous experience supervising clinicians or leading clinical services within a behavioral health program.
• Experience in PHP, IOP, outpatient, residential, or another structured addiction or mental health treatment setting.
• Strong knowledge of clinical assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, documentation, and continuity of care.
• Ability to review records and hold staff accountable for timely, accurate, and compliant documentation.
• Sound clinical judgment during complex, sensitive, or high-risk situations.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, conflict-resolution, and staff-development skills.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and model ethical clinical practice.
• Ability to work onsite in Delray Beach during program hours.
• Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work respectfully with clients from varied backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience treating trauma or behavioral addictions.
• Addiction credential such as MCAP, CAP, CAC, or a comparable certification.
• CSAT certification, EMDR certification, or other advanced clinical training.
• Experience overseeing both individual and group clinical programming.
• Experience preparing for payer reviews, documentation audits, licensing reviews, or accreditation activities.
• Experience improving clinical workflows, staff accountability, and program quality within a growing organization.
