Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the vibrant northern suburbs of Nashville. This contract role begins August 3, 2026, and extends through May 28, 2027, aligning with the academic year. Work full-time, 37.5 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, in a district known for its dedicated DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) hubs across Pre-K through elementary grades, with a new middle school hub launching for the upcoming year.
Your expertise will help shape inclusive, consultative services for K-12 students, empowering learners with diverse hearing needs across multiple campuses. Assignments and caseloads will vary, providing variety and the chance to collaborate with a committed network of educational staff.
Qualifications:
- Background as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing with consultative experience (preferred)
- Active Tennessee Department of Education certification is required
- Ability to pass TN fingerprinting and all time-sensitive credentialing
- Experience working with students in K-12 settings
- Strong communication, advocacy, and collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver consultative and direct services to students with hearing loss, ages Kindergarten through 12th grade, based on current student needs and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Work alongside general and special education faculty across DHH hub schools to support academic, language, and social development
- Adapt instructional methods and materials to ensure accessibility for all assigned students
- Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and assist with planning and progress monitoring
- Provide staff and family guidance on best practices and accommodations for students
