Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a dynamic educational setting near Cedar Hill, TN. This full-time, contract role runs in alignment with the academic year, beginning August 3, 2026, and concluding May 28, 2027. You'll provide vital services to K-12 students across a variety of school sites, including Pre-K through elementary hubs and an expanding middle school program.
Your expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing will be primarily leveraged in a consultative capacity, collaborating with staff and families to optimize each student’s learning experience. Assignments and caseloads will vary based on district needs, offering variety and the chance to use your skills across a range of age groups and educational environments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Tennessee Department of Education certification with DHH endorsement
- School-based experience with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students preferred
- Ability to work consultatively across Pre-K, elementary, and middle school levels
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Willingness to obtain Tennessee fingerprints as part of credentialing
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as an educational consultant for students with hearing differences, adapting strategies to meet IEP goals and support inclusive programming
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, administrators, and families to support student progress
- Provide direct and indirect services as determined by student needs
- Stay current with best practices and legal requirements for DHH education
- Support students at multiple sites as assigned by the district
