Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in the medical/surgical unit, ensuring their physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs are met across various age groups. Responsible for care planning, coordination, and delegation in both stable and emergent situations.

Responsibilities:

• Administer appropriate nursing interventions in response to patient needs and clinical situations.
• Perform routine nursing skills such as medication administration, intravenous therapy, and maintenance of indwelling devices.
• Develop and implement multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans collaboratively with the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families on care instructions, adapting teaching methods to individual needs.
• Delegate tasks to ancillary personnel, assessing their competency and scope of practice.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of patient care plans and interventions.

Qualifications:

• Hold an Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Possess a current RN license in the state of practice.
• Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor.
• Demonstrate competence in medication administration, IV therapy, and use of medical equipment.
• Experience in acute care, emergency response, or similar clinical settings is advantageous.
• Ability to care for diverse patient populations, including adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
