Planning Intern

Planning Student InternPlacer County Planning Services is seeking a motivated intern to support the Long-Range Planning (LRP) team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in planning projects, including contributing to the General Plan Update.The most qualified candidates are students majoring in land use and community planning, or other related fields. Candidates should demonstrate interest in urban and regional planning, have strong writing skills and attention to detail, and a proactive, organized, and collaborative approach to work. Hybrid remote schedules may be available.All students or recent graduates (up to 1 year after graduation) will be considered for Planning Student Intern, but students with the following majors/degrees are desirable:GeographyUrban PlanningGISPublic PolicyArchitectureSustainable DesignCity & Regional PlanningCommunity DevelopmentEnvironmental PlanningRelated or similar degreesAs a Planning Student Intern, you can expect to assist County staff with the following tasks:General Plan Update, Placer Legacy, Sustainability Plan, and other ongoing LRP projectsConduct research on planning policies and regulationsSupport coordination efforts for community engagement and stakeholder meetingsData acquisition and organizationDevelop flyers, brochures, and other materials for public information purposesUpdate and maintain County websitesThe Long-Range Planning (LRP) team is looking for interns with certain knowledge and skills. Work hours are limited to no more than 28 hours per week and cannot exceed a maximum of 1,000 hours per fiscal year.
