Summary Responsible for producing high-quality altered merchandise within established time standards for the Chanel boutique on Worth Avenue, ensuring precise fit and craftsmanship for luxury garments. Works directly with clients to fit garments, recommend styling, and maintain client-owned pieces while collaborating with the boutique team. Requires specialized techniques for delicate fabrics and constructions such as chains, tweeds, silks, beading, and fine tailoring. Responsibilities Alter and repair clients' garments including hemming, mending, lengthening, and taking in or letting out seams. Fit garments on clients to determine appropriate alterations and provide styling and fitting advice. Construct garments and other articles according to clients’ specifications and preferences. Organize, label, and maintain client-owned pieces and record required alterations. Maintain sewing machines, irons, and pressing equipment in proper working order. Collaborate with boutique associates and management to ensure timely production and exceptional client service. Requirements Minimum 5 years of alterations experience in a luxury retail environment preferred. Strong technical background in specialty skills such as leather, knits, double-face, beading, fine tailoring, and buttonholes. Sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques and strong attention to detail. Effective communication and exceptional client service skills; ability to work under time constraints.
