**Job Title**Extension Program Specialist II (AGNR, Natural Resources & Forestry)**Agency**Prairie View A&M University**Department**Cooperative Extension Programs**Proposed Minimum Salary**$3,562.34 monthly**Job Location**Prairie View, Texas**Job Type**Staff**Job Description**The Extension Program Specialist II- Natural Resources and Forestry will provide leadership to the planning and implementation of educational outreach programs in support of county-based staff in Natural Resource and Forest Management; prepare subject matter training and educational resource materials to address the needs of clientele as noted by the federal mandate; and conduct applied research on natural resource and forest management science.***This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.******This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.*****Responsibilities:*** Plans, develops and implements training programs for use by county staff in the area of Natural Resource and Forest Management, conservation agriculture business management, small acreage production, and educational programming/delivery related to Agriculture and Natural Resources to federally mandated clientele; Analyzes and interprets trends and other appropriate situational information and disseminate it for use by 1890 county personnel and committees in planning programs to meet local needs; Assists with the development of in-depth educational programs to solve significant problems and meet long-range objectives.* Develops comprehensive model plans which address base programs, critical issues, and clientele needs; Assists with development of evaluations instruments to measure program effectiveness; Develops and provides educational documents, newsletters, fact sheets, curriculum, PowerPoint presentations, and videos, to support county agents in-depth and outreach plans; Travels to selected counties to provide technical assistance and training for agents and volunteers; Interprets and disseminates relevant educational information from current applicable research findings, demographics and economics and public policy.* Assist with Natural Resource and forest management, including but not limited to forest thinning, prescribed burning, and carbon sequestration. Participates in independent and interdisciplinary applied forest management research and collaborates with other specialists and scientists; Observes University and CAFNR administrative policies to insure full compliance with mandated training and implementation of the institutional program for natural resource and forest management.* Attends headquarters staff conferences, program area conference calls, and Unit staff meetings; Attends district program planning conferences and training in support of county agents; Participates and presents at professional development conferences and meetings at the state and national level; Develops.* Participates and assists in college-wide events, activities, committees and performs other duties as assigned.**Required Education and Experience:*** Master’s degree in forestry, natural resources, or related discipline.* Five or more years of related professional experience.**Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:*** Knowledge of word processing, database, presentation and spreadsheet applications.* Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.* Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills.**Preferred Qualifications:*** Knowledge of forest management practices and natural resource conservation practices.* Technical competence in forestry and natural resource management and the ability to apply this knowledge to the solution of problems.* Knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS).Knowledge of a variety of teaching methods to provide effective learning experiences.* Ability to work independently while adhering to established plans, programs and protocols.**Job Posting Close Date:*** Until Filled**Required Attachments:**Please attach all required documents listed belowin the attachment box labeled as either “Resume/CV or Resume/Cover Letter” on the application.
